[Call for Student Delegates]2016 SciREX Summer Camp : Re? Constructing Tohoku

[UTokyo STIG students only]
As part of the joint education program within “Science for RE-designing Science, Technology and Innovation Policy” (SciREX), we organize a summer camp jointly with the six core universities every year.
The summer camp offers an excellent opportunity to discuss common themes, exchange views and perspectives, and interact with other participants having diverse backgrounds. It also aims at promoting network formation among students studying in different universities.
In 2016, Hitotsubashi University will organize the Summer Camp with the theme of “Re? Constructing Tohoku.” The camp is planned to be held in Matsushima in Miyagi Prefecture, where a magnitude 9.0 earthquake struck off the coast on March 11, 2011.

[Overview]
Japanese Government launched “Council for the Development of a Tourism Vision to Support the Future of Japan” in March 2016. “Tourism is one of the major pillars of the growth strategy of Japan. It is also the trump card for regional vitalization, as well as the engine for growth towards achieving a GDP of 600 trillion yen,” said Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. In SciREX Summer Camp 2016, with tourism consulting agency as well as members of Matsushima town, we discover ideas and discuss better ways to invite foreigners to Tohoku area, using empirical data and visiting tourist attractions in Matsushima bay area.
